Devices & enrollment
Enrolling devices, fingerprinting, mapping devices to people, device health and duplicates.
How do I enroll a new device?
Install the monitoring agent on the machine and enrol it with your company's enrolment key (from the Agents page). The device registers itself, appears under Assets and Agents, and starts reporting once the employee acknowledges the monitoring notice.
How does device fingerprinting work?
Each enrolled machine is identified by a stable device identity derived from hardware and system attributes, not just its name. This lets the platform recognise the same machine across restarts and re-installs, and spot when a machine has been re-enrolled under a new identity.
How do I map devices to employees?
Use the Asset Map for one-click assignment. If auto-mapping is enabled in governance settings, the agent reports the signed-in user and the platform suggests (or, when confident, assigns) the likely owner at enrolment. You can always review and override.
How do I view an employee’s asset information?
Open the person from Employees — their detail page lists assigned equipment. Employees see the same for themselves under "My Assets", including specifications, warranty, AMC cover, licences and service history.
How do I unassign a device?
Open the device and release the current assignment (or use Return). Custody is closed with a timestamp and the device returns to the unassigned pool, ready to be reassigned.
How do I monitor device health?
Device health is summarised on each asset and rolled up daily. The System Health report shows disk, performance and reporting status across the fleet, raises disk-space and offline alerts, and can email a daily digest.
A machine was re-enrolled and now appears twice — what do I do?
The platform correlates device identities and flags likely duplicates. Open the duplicates view, confirm the match, and merge the new record into the original so history and assignments stay on one asset. Auto-resolution is available as an opt-in governance setting.
What is network discovery?
With discovery enabled (a governance opt-in), agents passively note other devices on the local network from ARP neighbours. Discovered devices are de-duplicated by MAC and classified by vendor and hostname; you can promote one into your asset register or dismiss it. Nothing is added automatically.
Why does a device show as offline?
"Offline" means the agent has not reported recently. Check that the machine is on and connected, that the agent service is running, and the last-seen time on the Agents page. A brief network drop resolves on its own when the machine reconnects.
Can one device have multiple monitors?
Yes. The agent detects each connected monitor, and live view and screenshots can target a specific monitor or all of them. The viewer offers a monitor picker when more than one is present.
